Exploring the area around Traverse City, MI.
First up, the World’s Champion Cow monument. In her 16 years she provided 100 tons of milk. 23,000 gallons or so.
The brick labyrinth at the botanical garden.
The lighthouse at the far end of the peninsula.
We’re near Grand Rapids at a big orchard and winery. Free stop, Harvest Hosts. Tried a new-to-us “Saturn” Peach. Sort of flattened-looking. Very sweet and juicy.
Beautiful Wellfield botanical garden in the heart of Elkhart. The great thing about botanical gardens in the US is most of them have a reciprocal agreement with the others; belong to one and you get in free at the others.
Train museum in Elkhart. Had a cool coal-fired engine you could climb into.
The very cool Ruthmere mansion. The founder of Miles Labs.
Beautiful spot in Allegan County, MI (near Grand Rapids).
Spartan Academy class at Spartan Motors in Charlotte, MI. That’s Big Mike, the star of the show. The coach was also serviced there (filters, oil change, etc.)
Really great car museum near Kalamazoo. Multiple buildings, 400+ cars, all domestic. They don’t have them roped off like a lot of museums–so you can stick your head in the window and look at the interior easily.
Love the kid’s seat on top of the (exposed) gas tank.
